agbegbɔgbɔ
Commissioned by the Henry Moore Institute (Leeds, UK) and the International Curators Forum (UK), this 2019 performance activated Senga Nengudi’s artwork Sandmining. Meaning to breathe life or life force, agbegbɔgbɔ does so in a literal sense by once more activating Nengudi’s Sandmining piece. The performance formed part of the Senga Nengudi exhibition public programme. Participating in the performance were Carmen Okome, then a BA Fine Art student at the University of Leeds and Nii Kwartey Owoo, Director of Miishe African Music and Dance, Leeds.
