Commissioned by Christie’s for their Christie’s Lates Women in the Arts event, this second iteration of the awakening performance incorporated references to works from a Christie’s Classic Week sale through gesture. Tying to themes in the current series, the performance created a live artwork with used black tights spun web like around a vintage mirror frame. The captivating presentation enacted a funeral ceremony, a laying to rest of all that suffocates the Black woman’s true self.
