Nude Me/ Under the Skin
Nude Me/Under the Skin, investigates hosiery, particularly how this simple garment has been a mode of subjugation and marginalisation for the black woman. This ongoing series attempts to subvert these norms and reclaim black women’s visibility, femininity, and true sense of self. Using tights as main material, its versatility is stretched, moulded, twisted, and manipulated into new forms. Through this treatment, the tights allude to the state of psyches.
